Postmaster Worcester Webster, the creator of the Boscawen provisional
In 1847 Worcester Webster, a cousin of Daniel Webster's, served as postmaster in Boscawen, New Hampshire, from February 5, 1841 through January 15, 1852. Webster's rectangular adhesive provisional stamp was hand stamped, probably by Webster himself, in a dull blue color on crinkled, yellowish paper.
