This variety was current for almost six years and is quite common. Its increased use especially after the World War I, caused numerous printings and this stamp is found in a wide range of shades. The earlier printings were light as in previous issues but later printings were much darker. The lighter shades being the early printings were not obtained in large quantities by philatelists and are more desirable than the later issues.
The earliest documented use of #515 is May 4th, 1918
