Inspiration painting for the vignette design 'Golden Gate' by William Alexander Coulter, a San Francisco artist. The painting was submitted to the bureau by the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce as their suggestion for the vignette and it was preferred over the other national places of interest.
The Golden Gate bridge was not featured as it was not built until 1937
