The unique 6X1
Postmaster Colonel Hezekiah W. Scovell
There was doubt as to this being a genuine provisional. Recently two covers bearing fragments of this stamp have dispelled the doubts. Very little is known about this stamp, other that it was created during the administration of postmaster Colonel Hezekiah W. Scovell.
Of interest Scovell was married to Diantha Waterman of Massachusetts, and one wonders if there is a connection to Henry Waterman of Massachusetts who was behind the Millbury provisional.
