Great Head, Acadia National Park, Maine - source photograph for the design

The National Park Service was invited to submit photographs for the National
Park series, each park having a selection of two or three photographs for the
Bureau of Engraving to choose from.

Nine photo essays using the photographs submitted
by the National Park Service as the vignette.
Note that Mount Ranier was considered for the 7¢ value.
Also note that a sailing ship was added in the final design, probably because the scene lacked interest.

Large die proof on india, die sunk on card

A pane of 50, there were 4 panes to a sheet of 200

specifically targeted at stamp collectors.
