1872 GB Used Abroad. A wrapper from Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Ayres, prepaid at the 4d per ½oz 'interport' rate by a 4d deep vermilion Pl.12, tied by a Rio de Janeiro type 12 numeral. Endorsed 'per Flamsteed' a ship of the 'Lambert and Holt' line, this ship only made only six outward voyages to the Buenos Ayres under their Royal Mail contract, two of which either did not call at Rio de Janeiro or terminated there due to outbreaks of yellow fever. No receiving datestamps on reverse but internal docketing for being received on AP.24.1872 which aligns with the Flamsteed's arrival at Buenos Ayres on the 23rd where she was once again quarantined upon arrival.
