The only record of a used #44. The cancel is probably from a later date.
This issue differs from the original in the shade of black, being a greenish black color. The paper is harder and much more white and highly finished in appearance. The stamps were frequently separated with scissors. The reprints have no grill. #44 was a perf 12 stamp while #36 is perf 15½.
