A video showing the Zeppelin on its flight over the Worlds Fair
On the right side of the design the Federal Building from the Chicago "Century of Progress" Exposition of 1933 is shown. On the right of the design a Zeppelin hangar is shown.
The stamp was issued to help pay for the cost of flying a Zeppelin from Germany to Chicago, When at Chicago it would be displayed as past of the 1933 Exposition or Worlds Fair
The 50¢ stamp had no useful use except as a make-up stamp on parcels and heavier letters. It was mostly sold to collectors which counts for the scarcity of used copies. It did not sell well and most of the printing was destroyed.
