The 13th Connecticut Battalion on the Mississippi
The 13th Connecticut Infantry Regiment was organized at New Haven, Connecticut, beginning November 25, 1861, and mustered in for a three-year enlistment on January 7, 1862, under the command of Colonel Henry Warner Birge.
Left Connecticut for Ship Island, Mississippi, March 17, 1862, arriving there April 13. Operations against Forts St. Phillip and Jackson, Mississippi River, April 15–28, 1862.
The 13th Connecticut Battalion in action
Thirteenth Infantry.-Cols., Henry W. Birge, Charles D. Blinn; Lieut. -Cols., Alexander Warner, Charles D. Blinn, Homer B. Sprague, Apollos Comstock. This regiment was organized at New Haven during the fall of 1861. They remained in barracks throughout the winter.
The regiment was mustered into the US service on Feb 18th, 1862, for three years and was composed of excellent material. All the field officers had seen previous service-Col. Birqe as rnaior of the 1st heavy artillery, Lieut.-Col. Warner as major, and Maj. Holcomb as quartermaster of the 3rd infantry. It left March 17, 1862, for Ship island, Miss., numbering 1,017 officers and men, and arrived at its destination on April 13. It entered New Orleans on May 12, 1862.

On 12/22/1861 he mustered into ''A" Company, CT 13th Infantry. He was transferred out on 12/29/1864
On 12/29/1864 he transferred into "C" company, CT 13th Battn Infantry . He was mustered out on 4/25/1866 at Fort Pulaski, Georgia.
